No need to introduce Yvan Arpa, founder of ArtyA,
one of the most avant-garde watch designers of our modern times.
After making a significant contribution to some of the greatest watchmaking successes of recent decades, in 2010 Yvan Arpa launched his own 100% independent brand. Thus was born ArtyA , condensed from “Art”, “Y” for Yvan and “A” for Arpa .
“Provocative artist”, his ArtyA creations leave no one indifferent. You either love them or hate them. Double or nothing.
The very name of the brand indicates it: ArtyA produces individual works of art, unique pieces and very limited series.
No mass production, true luxury is exclusive, limited, intimate, rare, and as far as he is concerned, different...
The Artya brand has therefore specialized in sapphire crystal cases, translucent or colored, or even "chameleons", which change color.
All the handmade dials are made by his wife, artist Dominique Arpa-Cirpka, who uses unique techniques that she likes to keep secret.
The use of unconventional materials is one of ArtyA's particularities:
For the collection “Son of Earth Butterfly: Butterfly Wing Dials (under the control of the competent authorities);
For the “Son of Sea” collection: “marine” dials made from algae;
Live firearm ammunition, used in casings and dials;
Various fine and precious stones, tobacco leaves;
Non-circular mechanical gears….
The variety is endless!
ArtyA timepieces are limited in number, most are unique pieces, and some of them are exhibited in the most prestigious art museums, such as the
MoMA in New York .
But it's not just the style that's unique, the mechanical movements are too.
ArtyA also designed and developed an automatic movement with an independent watch manufacturer.
It should also be noted that Pierre-Laurent Favre, who died in 2021, formerly a designer of grand complications at Patek Philippe, worked with Yvan Arpa on the design of the ArtyA grand complications...

ArtyA Son of Sea Depth Gauge
Dive into the deep waters...
In recent years, ArtyA has developed a complete collection of watches intended for underwater sports.
Without ever losing sight of its innovative and artistic DNA, among the collection's key pieces we find this "Son of Sea Depth Gauge" equipped with a unique dial allowing you to know its depth thanks to a marvelous spectacle of colors.
It takes up the main colours that disappear as you dive deeper. From red to blue, including orange, yellow and green, you can check your depth by looking at the colours still visible on your dial. This original, technical and artistic innovation logically earned it a nomination at the Grand Prix de l'Horlogerie de Genève in the "Diving watches" category.
The expertise of the independent Swiss brand in working with sapphire crystal was bound to influence this new collection.
A material never before used in the marine world, we discover a complete range of pieces, each more unique than the last, as evidenced by this Son of Sea Blue Wave Crystal with a blue sapphire crystal bezel that adorns its case entirely in transparent sapphire and its enamel dial taking the shape of a drop falling into water.
ArtyA “Curvy Purity Tourbillon”
With expert mastery of sapphire crystal work, ArtyA presents a “shaped” Tourbillon watch with a new tonneau-shaped case with a refined and ergonomic construction.
The Purity Tourbillon movement has been completely redesigned to fit the tonneau shape of the case. With its perfect axial symmetry, and its crown at 12 o'clock, it is the result of the collaboration between the ArtyA and Telos teams.
The illusion of simplicity
While the vast majority of watches are round, ArtyA easily knows how to think outside the box by offering new shapes, including the so-called "barrel" shape.
Its generous volumes and shapes cut from a block of sapphire crystal, perfectly fitting the wrist, ArtyA's years of experience in the field make it possible today to create this sophisticated case offering a bold look that stands out from conventional watches. .
Its curved and profiled sides create a design that is both elegant and technical. The corners are curved to allow for a double appreciation of the immense 17 mm 4Hz tourbillon that floats in its center at 6 o'clock. With a beautiful presence on the wrist, the case presents harmonious dimensions of 38.5 x 43 mm. The curved shape of the whole offers an interesting alternative, with its more flexible and ergonomic lines than the round or rectangular models, a design created by Jérémie Arpa, son of Yvan Arpa.
The Curvy Purity Tourbillon movement, redesigned for the Tonneau shape
The result of close collaboration between Telos and ArtyA, the Curvy movement is the newcomer to the family of Purity Tourbillon calibers manufactured by ArtyA, here entirely redesigned to fit into the watch's unique tonneau-shaped case.
Recognizable by its remarkable axial symmetry and its crown placed at 12 o'clock, the Curvy Purity Tourbillon movement can be considered the culmination of the collection.
Its immense flying tourbillon with an oversized size of 17 mm has been placed at 6 o'clock to be able to ideally observe it in rotation. Thanks to its double barrel mounted in parallel, it offers an appreciable power reserve of 72 hours.
Above the double barrel, we admire the meticulous work of skeletonization. Sandblasted on the cast iron and hand-chamfered, we have an optimized display for a clear reading of the time.
ArtyA Tiny Purity Tourbillon
The small version of a large piece.
The latest edition of the Purity Tourbillon series has undergone a complete overhaul of its spectacular and exclusive double-barrel manufacture flying tourbillon. Following the complete reworking of the movement, the highly complicated piece has been reduced from an imposing 46 mm to a light and 39mm aerial.
For the development of this magnificent movement, Franck Orny and his team joined Yvan Arpa in a constructive partnership of skills, a sharing of values, and a beautiful creative vibrational dynamic.

ArtyA Arabesque Swirl Black
And
ArtyA Royal Arabesque Tourbillon Black Gold
Two Unique Pieces 1/1
Their exceptional character lies in:
In the realization of the case engraved on grade 5 titanium, however renowned for its exceptional hardness. Its floral patterns are inspired by the scrolls of historical weapon butts. The flying tourbillon is manufactured by ArtyA and its bridges are cut into arabesques. the case is enhanced with gold and copper deposits.
These patterns are already a feat specific to the crafts. However, it is their very particular execution that will attract attention: they are engraved in grade 5 titanium. This material is already used in watchmaking for its hardness. Engraving it with patterns is therefore against its use. It is this approach that seduced Yvan Arpa: "titanium is sold to us as an absolute, a pinnacle of hardness, resistance to shocks, corrosion, temperature, etc. In reality, it is just more resistant than the references that we have always been taught, such as steel. It can be worked to make an object of art and no longer a clinical machining. And I proves it."
The Inspiration…
The choice of arabesque motifs is very personal to Yvan Arpa. "The idea came to me from a western," he continues. "I noticed the chiseled butt of a rifle. The motifs were perfect. I I designed them in the same spirit, then validated the model and the approach with Tech Graving, a former student of the Liège Armory School founded in 1897, and a world-renowned authority for its expertise in the field", who took over the torch to make it an exceptional piece.
The arabesque motifs of this piece were very difficult to work. The dial is, like the case, hand-engraved by our master engraver. In the end, the result is in the centuries-old tradition of royal armourers.
The Arabesque Tourbillon Black and stretches over a 52.5 x 40 mm titanium case. It is powered by a hand-wound mechanical caliber from the Swiss manufacturer ArtyA, regulated by a flying tourbillon and offering an exceptional power reserve. three days (72 hours).
The characteristics of the ArtyA Royal Arabesque Tourbillon Black Gold are identical to the ArtyA Arabesque Tourbillon Black, except for the gold-enhanced decoration of the case.
