Complexity in all simplicity or how to rethink the concept of the water-resistance of a watch case?

Reconsidering the complexity of water-resistance is the skillfully successful challenge launched by the Mauron Musy manufacture in 2013. After more than two years of reflection, technical studies and tests, the nO-Ring® complication was born, creating the only watch with mechanical water-resistance without seals.

The nO-Ring® technology combines three principles: mechanical sealing technology, the clamp brace, and the satellite compression spring. A knock-on solution whose brilliance lies in miniaturising and adapting this device to watchmaking: a world first and a true paradigm shift in the field of containment, propelling the mechanical function of water resistance to the status of “watch exterior complicatio

This ingenious process uses no tightening screws. The bezel and case middle are assembled by means of flanges, mounted on a horizontal plane. The glass and caseback are secured by satellite springs to prevent the watch from being screwed down, which would thus deform the flatness. The case middle and bezel thus compress the springs whose vertical forces are transmitted to the crystal and back of the watch. These springs also take up the vertical expansions due to temperature variations.

The crown also works on the principle of mechanical sealing. Each crown shaft is adjusted in a bearing, creating a nanometric clearance so small that there is no risk of infiltration. This process required the development of several manufacturing and control devices, all carried out in the Mauron Musy workshops.

The Armure collection emanates from this avant-garde technology, sophisticated timepieces that disregard synthetic materials and the vulnerability of time.

The new Mauron Musy Mµ 03 collections in grade 5 titanium have now replaced the Classic Steel Armure collection and house a brand new 100% Swiss manufactured caliber.

MAURON MUSY watches are not stamped with the inscription ‘Swiss made’, but instead proudly bear the ‘Swiss Crafted’ label certifying that 100% of the watch has been developed, manufactured and crafted in Switzerland.
